Fees for 2026 are as follows:

Club Membership Fee
This is used to cover maintenance costs of the flying field as well as room hire for winter club meetings and other administrative costs associated with the running of the club. The Club Membership Fee renews on 1st January each year and should be paid directly to the club in December each year.
BMFA Membership Fee
This includes insurance, and allows you to fly under the BMFA Article 16 authorisation as well as 4 editions of the BMFA Newsletter (1 printed and 3 electronic per year) and access to the BMFA Achievement Scheme and national competition events. BMFA offer Annual Membership that renews on 1st January each year and can be paid through the club in December each year. It also offers a rolling membership that is valid for 12 months from the date of joining. This should be paid to the BMFA. Refer to BMFA Join Us for more information.
CAA Registration Fee
This is a mandatory registration fee to obtain an Operator ID for individuals responsible for drones or model aircraft. A CAA Flyer ID must be obtained by taking either the CAA test, or preferably the BMFA’s own ‘Registration Competency Certificate’ (RCC) as the questions relate more to model flying under the BMFA Article 16 authorisation. Usually, members will need both Operator and Flying ID’s. The CAA registration is valid for 1 year from the date of registration and the Flyer ID is valid for 5 years. New members should arrange CAA registration directly with the CAA or with the BMFA who will register members with the CAA. For existing members, the above fees can continue to be collected and paid with the club membership payable in December each year. For 2026, the CAA Registration fee is rounded up for members paying through the club.
